The girl co-passenger of the blind narrator of Ruskin Bond’s story ‘The Eyes Have It compliments the narrator by saying that he is a very courageous young man. She also enquires the cause of the narrator’s seriousness.
The narrator feels happy to receive words of praise from the girl he is growing fond of and decides to try to laugh for her sake. But the thought of laughter, makes him feel anxious and lonesome. He realises that they will soon reach the girl’s destination and consequently get separated.
