Sir,
Please allow me to express my grievance in your esteemed daily regarding reckless driving that causes accidents. Over the last few years the number of road accidents has been on the rise. The drivers of private buses and cars often engage in overtaking one another, without caring about the safety of the passengers or pedestrians on the road. The horrible condition of the roads adds fuel to fire. The traffic police are negligent of their duties. At times untrained drivers are given a license and this leads to increased possibility of accidents. Imposition of fines and seizure of vehicles or licenses are not the only solutions. The commission system for the drivers and conductors must be done away with as early as possible.

মহাশয়, আপনার বিখ্যাত সংবাদপত্রে দয়া করে বেপরােয়া গাড়ি চালানাের কারণে ঘটে চলা দুর্ঘটনার ব্যাপারে আমার ক্ষোভ ব্যক্ত করার সুযােগ দিন। গত কয়েক বছরে দুর্ঘটনার সংখ্যা ক্রমশ বেড়েই চলেছে। বেসরকারি বাস ও গাড়ির ড্রাইভাররা প্রায়শই যাত্রীদের বা রাস্তার পথচারীদের নিরাপত্তার কথা ভুলে একে অন্যকে ওভারটেক করতে ব্যস্ত থাকে। রাস্তাগুলাের ভয়ানক অবস্থা আগুনে ঘৃতাহুতি দেয়। ট্রাফিক পুলিশ নিজেদের কর্তব্যে অবহেলা করে। কখনাে কখনাে আবার আনাড়ি ড্রাইভারদের লাইসেন্স দেওয়া হয়ে থাকে, যার ফলে দুর্ঘটনার সম্ভাবনা বাড়ে। কেবল জরিমানা আদায় এবং যানবাহন কিংবা লাইসেন্স আটক করলে এর স্থায়ী সমাধান হবে না। ড্রাইভার এবং কনডাক্টরের কমিশন প্রথা যত শীঘ্র সম্ভব অবশ্যই তুলে দেওয়া দরকার।
