What role did the bearded man play in Three Questions’? Class 12 | English (Three Questions) 6 Marks

Ans:

The bearded man plays a significant role in the story ‘Three Questions’. The bearded man was an enemy of the Tsar because the Tsar executed his brother and seized his property. The man loved his brother so much that he wanted to take revenge on the Tsar by killing him. But he found that the Tsar was very kind who took care of him when he was severely injured and saved his life. This incident moved him and he begged for the Tsar’s mercy. He wanted to compensate the king by serving him as his slave but the Tsar forgave him and made peace with him. In fact, the encounter with the bearded man was that experience which helped the Tsar to acquire his answers. For if the Tsar had not stayed back to help the hermit, the Tsar could have been killed by the bearded man and if the Tsar had not attended the wounded bearded man he would not have gained a faithful slave for life. Hence, the Tsar got the answer of right time, right people and important thing to do while nursing the bearded man.
