THE ROLE OF ADVERTISEMENT & MEDIA
Advertisement is one of the most potential ways of communicating with the mass about any product or service. All types of media including print, electronic, etc play an important role in advertising products to the consumers. Internet, television, radio, cell phones, newspapers, cinema and public hoardings are some of the mass media which circulate information to people about the utilities of new products that are launched in the market. Advertisements are aimed to motivate consumers to increase sales and profits of the manufacturer. Commerce and industry flourish with the help of advertisements. Most of the advertisements, today, contain a story, the centre of attention being the product or service being advertised. Moreover, endorsement of brands by popular celebrities and the use of melodious jingles all add to the entertainment aspect of advertisement. Although advertisements help us to be aware of our needs and the means of satisfying them, they have some negative effects too. Stunts shown in the TV advertisements affect children’s tender minds. Their efforts of imitating those stunts often bring about accidents. Advertisements also mislead people with faulty information to fulfil the interest of the advertisers. However, we cannot deny the role of advertisement in the modern world.
