PLACE OF WOMEN IN INDIA
The women of India is a picture of stark contradiction. On one hand, women of India are ruthlessly oppressed and exploited and on the other, they are the most liberated. Over the centuries the status of Indian women have undergone vast changes. Women have always been dominated in society which is run by men. Women and their abilities have always been underestimated. Various brutal rules were employed on them through ages. They were subjected to social tyranny by the powerful people of society. But with their own merit, women have re-established their worth and value and in many spheres they have even surpassed men. In many fields of critical decision- making and successful running of administration, Indian women have made a mark. The role of women in Indian sports, literature and entertainment have touched great heights. Indian women have proved their forte in managing the household and left a mark of special skill in housekeeping. They have achieved distinctions in several fields which were under the dominance of men for long.
