MY FAVOURITE AUTHOR
Every now and then when I get leisure time I read story books. Amongst all, stories written by Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay appeals to me the most. He is my favourite author. He has written numerous story books of which ‘Adbhuture Series’ is the most entertaining. There are many books in this series like ‘Mohan Rayer Banshi’, ‘Nabigunjer Daityo’, ‘Gonsainbaganer Bhut’, ‘Chayamoy’, ‘Patalghor’, etc. Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay has written a whole lot of other stories and novels for adult readers as well. ‘Ghunpoka’, his first novel was published as a book in 1967 followed by many major works like ‘Kagojer Bou’, ‘Parthiba,’ ‘Jao Pakhi,’ ‘Shayola,’ ‘Parapar,’ ‘Manabjomin’ and so on. Ever since his arrival he has been celebrated as a writer of outstanding merit. A combination of varied, striking themes and the smart, lucid prose makes his stories and novels highly readable. Another characteristic of his writing is the deft use of humour. Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay’s insight into human characters adds a strong philosophical tone to his tales. In a word, my favourite author never lets me down.
