A VISIT TO A BOOK FAIR
Visiting book fair is an annual phenomenon. It is a gathering of the buyers and sellers of old and new books. Unlike other fairs, book fair has a charm of its own. Rarely ever we come across any event where we can see accumulation of such a huge number of books and book lovers. Kolkata is one such city in India, where people of all ages and cultures have an inclination towards reading books. Wide ranges of publication from science and technology to management, computer to literature, arts and entertainment to games and sports are available. Whenever we visit the book fair we gape in wonder at such widest variety of books. The very atmosphere of the fair ground attracts us to be there even if we don’t buy books. People strumming guitar and singing songs, drawing portraits and painting and selling magazines lend colour to the environs of book fair. Though we buy books throughout the year, book fair is an event for which we keep waiting all the year. It has entered in the very psyche and culture of Bengal.
