CHILD LABOUR

Childhood is the best phase of a man’s life. That is the time when kids spend carefree days under the love and care of their parents. Unfortunately, not all the children get such a blissful childhood. When the children are supposed to be in schools, they are found working in tea-stalls, restaurants and doing household chores. The fun of childhood disappears when they are forced to be the bread-earners of their families. Child labour is illegal in India as well as in many countries. Employing children in various laborious jobs is considered as a human rights violation. This even leads to sale and trafficking of children and their exploitation. The Child Labour Act 1986 has been enacted to regulate employment of children. Free and Compulsory Education Act mandates free and compulsory education to aii children under 14 years. Child labour should be banned at all cost to ensure the development of the nation. The Government should improve the socio-economic condition of the country so that this curse of poverty can be eliminated from society. Then only children can enjoy their childhood to the fullest, irrespective of their class, community and financial condition.
