Describe the encounter of Sir Mohan Lal with the English soldiers Class 11 | English (Karma) 6 Marks
Ans:
Sir Mohan Lal was eagerly waiting for some Englishmen to be his fellow passengers. Bill and Jim, two British soldiers, boarded the first-class compartment though they were entitled to travel only in second class. Sir Mohan decided to welcome them in his compartment. But, the ill-mannered soldiers instead of getting impressed by Sir Mohan’s English accent or his English attire, called him a “nigger”. Their racism made them throw away Sir Mohan’s suitcase, thermos flask, bedding and ‘The Times’-in which he took so much pride. When Sir Mohan protested, hearing his accent, they ceased momentarily but recovered soon. Jim struck him flat on his face and with the whistle of the train, they flung him out of the train on to the platform. He tripped on his bedding and landed on the suitcase, dumbfounded, on being humiliated and disillusioned beyond expectation.
