বঙ্গানুবাদ :
I sit in the top of the wood, my eyes closed.
আমি বসি বনের চূড়ায়, চোখ দুটি বন্ধ করে।
Inaction, no falsifying dream
নিষ্ক্রিয়তা–মিথ্যা কোনো স্বপ্ন নয়
Between my hooked head and hooked feet:
আমার মাথার বাঁকা ঠোঁট আর পায়ের বাঁকা নখরের মাঝখানে:
Or in sleep rehearse perfect kills and eat.
ঘুমের মধ্যেও চলতে থাকে নিখুঁত হত্যার মহড়া, আর চলে ভোজন।
The convenience of the high trees!
উঁচু গাছের সুবিধা কত!
The air’s buoyancy and the sun’s ray
আকাশের ভেসে থাকা, আর সূর্যের আলো
Are of advantage to me;
সবই থাকে আমার অনুকূলে;
And the earth’s face upward for my inspection.
আর পৃথিবী তার মুখ উঁচু করে রাখে যাতে আমি তাকে নজরে রাখি।
My feet are locked upon the rough bark.
আমার পা শক্তভাবে আঁকড়ে ধরে কাষ্ঠবাকল
It took the whole of Creation
সৃষ্টির সমগ্র শক্তি লেগেছিল
To produce my foot, my each feather:
আমার পা, আমার প্রতিটি পালক তৈরি করতে:
Now I hold Creation in my foot
এখন আমি সেই সৃষ্টিকেই ধরে রেখেছি আমার পায়ে।
Or fly up, and revolve it all slowly –
অথবা উড়ে যাই ওপরে, ধীরে ঘুরি, সব কিছু দেখি—
I kill where I please because it is all mine.
আমি যেখানে খুশি হত্যা করি, কারণ সমগ্র পৃথিবীটাই আমার।
There is no sophistry in my body:
আমার শরীরে কোনো ছলনা নেই:
My manners are tearing off heads –
আমার স্বভাবই তো মাথা ছিঁড়ে নেওয়া—
The allotment of death.
এভাবেই মৃত্যু বরাদ্দ করাই আমার কাজ।
For the one path of my flight is direct
কারণ আমার উড়াল চলে একটিমাত্র পথে, সোজা
Through the bones of the living.
জীবিতদের হাড় ভেদ করে।
No arguments assert my right:
কোনো যুক্তিই কেড়ে নিতে পারে না আমার অধিকার:
The sun is behind me.
সূর্য আমার পেছনে থাকে।
Nothing has changed since I began.
আমার শুরুর দিন থেকেই কিছুই বদলায়নি।
My eye has permitted no change.
আমার চোখ কোনো পরিবর্তন মেনে নেয়নি।
I am going to keep things like this.
আমি এভাবেই সবকিছু আমার অধীনে রাখব।
