PEACE

Peace is an important factor for a happy and content life. Peace implies the presence of positive emotions such as love, trust, understanding, compassion and so on. In other words, absence of peace suggests hatred, anger, fear, jealousy etc. Peace may prevail in various spheres. As far as personal relationships are concerned, it is imperative that we avoid negative emotions, thoughts and actions in order to maintain a peaceful relationship with others. The people who are involved in any kind of relationship also need to give enough space to each other. When it comes to maintaining peace in society, it is a collective effort and we all have to do our bits for a peaceful co-existence. We should always be on our toes to perform our duties as a responsible citizen and be aware of the negative feelings and evil forces that pose a threat to the peace and harmony of society as well as the country. There have been two World Wars to teach mankind some bitter lessons about the devastating consequences of not recognising the value of peace. As the saying goes, better late than never, humans have learned how important it is to let peace prevail for the sake of mankind. If the First World War saw the formation of the League of Nations in 1919, (which could not prevent the Second World War) the United Nations Organisation was formed in the aftermath of the Second World War with the pledge to ‘give peace a chance, at any cost’.

Like the age old wisdom of charity being initiated at home, peace too germinates in our mind. It is our inner peace founded on our soul, that goes a long way to make real contributions towards greater causes.
