UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM

Unemployment is one of the gravest problems that India faces today. Several skilled and intelligent individual are forced to remain unemployed because of the lack of employment opportunities. The problem of unemployment is getting more and more serious with the passing of the years. The number of the unemployed youths are increasing every day. There are various reasons behind the problem of unemployment in India. Firstly, the ever increasing population and insufficient job vacancies lead to more number of unemployed people. There has always been the scarcity of industries and infrastructure due to slow economic growth in India, resulting in the dearth of jobs, both in public and private sectors. The modernisation, economic globalisation and technological boom have had added impact on the decline of the workforce all over the world and particularly in the developing countries, like India. With the advent of computers, automation and digitalization in every sector of work, hundreds of skilled workers are destined to lose their jobs. The unemployment problem is the root cause of many social evils and disorders. The Government should take stock of the situation and try to resolve the problem through effective measures. The new, unconventional avenues should be explored in order to create employment opportunities. Besides, self-employment is to be encouraged and patronised. More vocational training courses should be introduced for all. The unemployed young people should be made to feel proud and confident in all kinds of professions. In the end, the Government must take up various initiatives to spread education among the women of the country as only then, can their children be educated and be fit for employment in the future.
