As the train approached the station, Lady Lal hurriedly finished off her meal. She emitted a loud belch and went to the public tap to wash her hands. Then the lady dried her mouth and hands with the loose end of her sari. While walking back to her steel trunk, she kept on belching and thanked the Gods for a good meal. Finally, Lachmi went towards the train. On the contrary, the approach of the train did not disturb Sir Mohan Lal’s composure. He continued sipping his scotch and ordered the bearer to inform him when his luggage was moved to the first-class compartment. He showed no excitement or hurry as according to him, it would be an exhibition of bad breeding and he considered himself to be eminently well-bred.
