Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of India, was a versatile genius. He is specially known to us as a great freedom fighter. His contribution to India’s freedom movement is unforgettable. This great man was born on 11 November, 1888. He worked as a journalist for a long time. He composed poetry in Urdu. He had a very high protesting voice against the British Raj. He was a great and enthusiastic follower of Gandhiji and his philosophy. He wrote many books voicing his protest against the British. Some of them are ‘India wins freedom’, ‘Ghubar-e-Khatir’ etc. He dreamt of India’s freedom, and after independence he became the first Education Minister of India. Now his birthday is observed as National Education Day Maulana breathed his last on 22 February 1958.
