Sydney, March 26: India’s 2015 World Cup journey has come to an end as the team ran out of steam against Australia. The 2011 champion team has bowed out with an embarrassing 95-run defeat. After winning nine matches in a row, the men in blue lost to a far superior side here. Today everything went wrong with them. The first round went to Australia when their captain Michael Clarke won the toss. Batting first, Australia scored 328 runs, losing 7 wickets in 50 overs. Steven Smith scored a century (105) and Aaron Finch missed it by 19 runs only. India’s best bowling performance was given by Umesh Yadav (4 wickets for 72 runs). India’s start was promising but at the end of the day, the scoreboard showed only the skipper MS Dhoni’s last ditch effort. He scored 65 runs but his team failed in the Herculean chase. One bad day ended the dream of a billion. Australia will take on New Zealand in the final at MCG.
