PHENYL MAKING 

Phenyl is a very useful and well-known cleaner. The making of phenyl at home involves the following stages. At first, castor oil is boiled in a big pot and crushed resin is mixed with it. Then it is allowed to cool. Next, caustic soda solution is added to it and the whole solution is stirred frequently. Thereafter, some creosote oil is poured into it and it is left for ten minutes. Then carbolic acid and potassium permanganate are mixed with it. Then water is poured into it. The mixture is constantly stirred in the next stage. Now, it is kept for 24 hours and phenyl is obtained. Finally, it is poured into bottles and labelled.
