NEED OF HOLIDAYS
Holidays were once holy days or days of worship. They have now come to mean days of rest, relaxation and recreation. Holidays are welcomed by all and sundry, specially the school and college students. But the question is-Are holidays a waste of time? No, of course not. ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.’ Even a machine requires rest. We need holidays to break the monotony, to avoid strain on our bodies and to give our minds a welcome repose. It is imperative, however, to make the best use of holidays. We should try to refresh ourselves with outdoor games, picnics, short tours and excursions. The modern man is unable to enjoy leisure. He has no time to stand and stare. His life is full of worries. It is important to enjoy holidays so that life blossoms in all its colours and every human being tastes its beauty to the utmost.
ছুটি বা অবকাশের প্রয়ােজনীয়তা
একসময় ছুটির দিন বলতে বােঝাত পবিত্র দিন অর্থাৎ পুজোআচ্চার দিন। বর্তমানে এর অর্থ বিশ্রামের দিন, অবকাশ যাপনের দিন এবং আমােদ-প্রমােদের দিন। সকলের কাছেই অবকাশ স্বাগত, বিশেষ করে স্কুল কলেজের ছাত্রছাত্রীদের কাছে। কিন্তু প্রশ্ন হল এই যে— অবকাশ কি সময়ের অপচয়? না, একেবারেই তা নয়। সবসময় খালি কাজ, কোনাে আমােদপ্রমােদ নয়, মানুষকে নিষ্প্রাণ করে তােলে। একটা যন্ত্রেরও বিশ্রামের প্রয়ােজন হয়। একঘেয়েমি কাটাতে, শরীরের ধকল এড়াতে এবং আমাদের মনকে বহু কাঙ্ক্ষিত বিশ্রাম দেওয়ার জন্যই অবকাশের প্রয়ােজন রয়েছে। যাই হােক না কেন, ছুটিকে সর্বোত্তমভাবে কাজে লাগানােটা খুব জরুরি। খােলা মাঠে খেলাধুলাে, বনভােজন, ছােটোখাটো ভ্রমণ এবং শিক্ষামূলক ভ্রমণের মাধ্যমে নিজেদের সতেজ রাখার চেষ্টা করা উচিত। আধুনিক মানুষ ছুটিটাকে ভালােভাবে অনুভব করতে পারে না। কারণ তার দাঁড়িয়ে দেখার সময় নেই। তার জীবন উদবেগপূর্ণ। ছুটি উপভােগ করা খুব দরকার যাতে জীবন তার সমস্ত রং নিয়ে ফুটে উঠতে পারে এবং প্রতিটি মানুষ খুব ভালােভাবে এর সৌন্দর্য উপভােগ করতে পারে।
