TOKYO OLYMPICS
The Olympic games are known as the world’s foremost athletic competition. The Olympic games first began at Olympia in Ancient Greece in 776 BC. Over 200 nations participate in this event that happens once in four years. The Olympic logo is consisted of five different rings. The first modern Olympic games happened in 1896 in Athens, Greece. The Olympic Games programme consists of 33 sports, 50 disciplines and nearly 339 events. The host country of Summer Olympics 2020 was Tokyo, Japan. The widespread pandemic situation Covid-19 made the games reschedule in 2021. At the opening ceremony Mary Com and Manpreet Singh both from India were the flagbearer. The Olympics Games are very important to unite the global community with magnificent sports events. Tokyo Olympics also established the same among all nations. In Tokyo Olympics the most successful country is the United States having a total of 113 medals out of which 39 are gold. The other two countries which bagged the maximum medals are China and Japan. They had a total number of 88 and 58 medals respectively.India made a remarkable position in Tokyo Olympics compared to the previous ones. India bagged a total number of 7 medals having one gold, two silver and four bronze medals. Wrestler Bajrang Punia won bronze medal, P.B. Sindhu won bronze medal in women single badmintons, wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya won silver and athlete Neeraj Chopra won gold medal.
