Sir,
Please allow me some space in your esteemed daily to express my concern about catching fishes using poison in the river and ponds of Jamalpur area. Over the last few months a handful of fishermen had been using some sort of poison, may be unwittingly. They did so for catching more fishes from the Damodar and ponds in our village. By doing so, they have been committing a grave crime. Fishes thus caught will surely cause health hazards for those who eat them. Besides, they have been contaminating the river and ponds. It will pose a threat to the ecosystem. Various aquatic species will surely be extinct because of such thoughtless activity. The local administration must arrange strict vigil immediately to stop this unscrupulous practice. We just cannot allow the greedy fishermen to kill us.

মহাশয়, আপনার বিখ্যাত সংবাদপত্রে দয়া করে আমাকে একটু জায়গা দিন যাতে জামালপুর অঞ্চলের নদী ও পুকুরগুলােতে বিষ প্রয়ােগ করে মাছ ধরার বিষয়ে আমি আমার উদবেগ প্রকাশ করতে পারি। গত কয়েক মাস ধরে মুষ্টিমেয় কয়েকজন জেলে বিষজাতীয় জিনিস ব্যবহার করছেন, হয়তাে অজ্ঞাতসারেই। তারা এটা করছেন দামােদর নদ এবং আমাদের গ্রামের পুকুরগুলাে থেকে বেশি মাছ ধরার জন্য। এমনটা করে তারা মারাত্মক অপরাধ করছেন। এভাবে ধরা মাছগুলাে যারা খাচ্ছেন নিশ্চিতভাবে তাদের স্বাস্থ্যসংক্রান্ত বিপদের কারণ। হবে। তা ছাড়া তারা নদী এবং পুকুরের জল দূষিত করছেন। এটা বাস্তুতন্ত্রের পক্ষে বিপজ্জনক হবে। এরকম কাণ্ডজ্ঞানহীন কাজের জন্য অনেক জলজ প্রজাতি নিশ্চয়ইবিলুপ্ত হয়ে যাবে। এরকম অসাধু কাজকারবার বন্ধ করার জন্য স্থানীয় প্রশাসনকে অবিলম্বে কড়া নজরদারির ব্যবস্থা করতে হবে। আমরা লােভী জেলেদের আমাদের মারতে দিতে পারি না।
