HOW GENERAL ELECTION IS HELD IN INDIA
A general election in India is conducted in the following way. At first, the date for the election is announced by the Chief Election Commissioner. Soon campaigning is started by different political parties. The presiding and polling officers are duly trained. On the eve of the election day, they are sent to different polling stations with voting materials. On the election day, voters cast their votes in polling booths by pushing buttons of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM). When the polling is over, the EVMs are sealed and dispatched to counting stations. On the appointed day, counting is done in presence of the candidates or their representatives. Finally, results are announced.
